Rock Is Back. After 22 million records sold in the US and a three year hiatus, Kid Rock is back with the brand new album 'Rock N Roll Jesus'. Kid Rock hustled in the Detroit underground for over ten years before he burst into the mainstream in 1999 with the timeless rock anthem "Bawitdaba." Other hits like "Cowboy" and "American Bad A**" followed while ballads like his "Picture" duet with Sheryl Crow and "Only God Knows Why" helped to propel him forward as one of the greatest artists of our time. His latest offering Rock N Roll Jesus is no exception, running the gamut from hard rock to hip-hop to country and soul. Of the album, which Rock co-produced with Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance), he says: "I am proud of every single song on this record. It works from start to finish." "Kiss my Anglo-Saxon a**" says the Cowboy Feb 02, 2010 I remember the first time I heard Bawitdaba as if it were yesterday, and I've been hooked on Kid Rock music ever since. This album is the latest chapter in the story of the Detroit Cowboy and it does not disappoint. With a few more meaningful ballads and a few less rap metal hits it's still reliably awesome. The haters, critics and nay-sayers are still welcome to suck Kid Rock's ****, as he so eloquently puts it, and indeed they can as he has not slowed down a bit. There are a lot of people who don't want to like Kid Rock and as such don't give his music a chance, and that's fine, but I suggest they don't waste their time listening to it or writing wack reviews without listening to anything other than one single. That notwithstanding, to anybody out there who doesn't like Kid Rock, they can "Kiss My Anglo-Saxon A**" as the Mr. Ritchie says.
A little too mainstream Jan 16, 2010 At some point, one has to wonder when we can settle here on a genre. I like Kid Rock's hard edge, his crazy lyrics, driving beat. Then we get some country, some horns, some backup singers. Not loving that at all. As another reviewer said, grammy-ish. I think that this album will appeal to a wider audience perhaps, but I want the wild child Kid Rock. I would like to see more covers honestly because I think he and his backup band would do an amazing job on a lot of older hard rock songs. Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if he ended up completely country, ballads and all. Now that would be a trip. While I applaud Kid Rock's exploration, I really hope he heads back to rock/southern rock and some rock/rap and stay there and produce great songs and please drop the backup singers - Led Zeppelin never had backup singers (or Deep Purple, or Jimi Hendrix, or, well you get the drift).
TWO HIT WONDER Dec 17, 2009 Bought it for one or two songs and they were all I liked about it.
Much better than expected Dec 06, 2009 I haven't been a follower of Kid Rock for a while, probably since his first album in 1998. I'm a soldier in Baghdad right now and when I learned of him coming to visit us I figured I should get familar with his stuff, especially his most recent stuff. I ordered the CD and am very happy I have. His tracks grew on me and there are easily five that I think have or should make the charts. In other words, I love this album!!! Plus, the fact that he tours the middle east to visit the troops makes him a great guy in my book. I had absolutely no problem with buying his material and am a resurrected Kid Rock Fan. Low Life, Half Your Age, Roll On, All Summer Long...all great songs...can't remember the names of the rest. Also, to the guy waiting to copy from his buddy. That's illegal, many do it, but why are you posting your illegal habits on the internet.
To those that don't feel like the "CD Ripper" buy the whole album, you will like it, it's worth it!
Rock n Roll Jesus CD Nov 01, 2009 Purchased as a gift for a friend. The next time a friend mentions a song they'd like to have check on Amazon, the low cost of what you may be able to find is amazing. Shipment is quick and I've been very satisfied with all the CD's I've ordered from Amazon.
