Classic Anita Feb 17, 2010 All I will say is that I wish Anita still sounded this good. Her warbling lately has become an incoherent mess. This is crisp and clear and the Anita Baker I remember. As for buying it used, I wish the seller had not written on the CD, but it doesn't affect the ability to play it, so it's fine.
gram loves it Feb 10, 2010 bought this for my grandmother and she was totally thrilled. she loves this album.
Rapture Feb 05, 2010 From the opening piano chords of `Sweet Love', you know there is a good song coming. `Sweet Love' is just one of those soul songs that people who say don't like soul music like. This CD is superb, with some heart-tugging songs. If you want to listen to music that has an effortless delivery, that has heart felt lyrics that are just timeless, this is the CD for you.
Like Butter!!! Jan 03, 2010 I think, if I'm not mistaken, what makes this recording stand out from her first album was the fact that she was the producer. Once she took the reigns in the studio, she never looked back. The love songs are pure and honest. Anita Baker stood out because, she has an influence of Jazz. This foundation makes Anita stand out from any other pop singer, that I knew of, at the time this album emerged. She was and always will be in a class by herself.
A Masterpiece from a Musical Genius Dec 28, 2009 This is truly a masterpiece in every sense of the word. I just cannot fault it. Anita's voice-vocal range, sound, notation, emotional capture is 10/10. The lyrics-unforgetable, intense is 10/10. The music-sound, instrumentation, chords, rhythmn section is 10/10. The songs are all beautiful and flow perfectly well. The album is the perfect package. This album has stood the test of time and will continue to be played in 100 years time.
Till this day I continue to hear these songs being played in shopping malls and train stations in Brazil, Chile, Thailand, Hong Kong, USA, UK, France, Holland, Germany, South Africa, Nigeria, Italy, Australia to name a few.
No wonder Anita Baker is adored by so many other musicians including Pavarotti, Mary J Blige, Faith Evans, Celine Dionne, Tyrese, Snoop Dog and many others. Mary J Blige once said this album saved her life. I say, Im not surprised because it made mine.
