Description:

'R.O.O.T.S.' an acronym for 'ROUTE OF OVERCOMING THE STRUGGLE' follows Flo Rida's internationally successful debut, 'MAIL ON SUNDAY,' which made an explosive Top 5 entry
onto the Billboard 200 upon its March 2008 release. As on the previous collection, 'R.O.O.T.S.' sees Flo Rida joining forces with an extraordinary array of A-list collaborators, featuring artists like Nelly Furtado, Ne-Yo, and Pleasure P, and including production from Jim Jonson, Dr. Luke, Eric Hudson, Mike Caren, and DJ Montay,
who produced 'Low.'

4CD was okay  Mar 09, 2010
Mainly bought for the well known songs played on radio but listened to the rest and it wasn't bad. A little deep for me but good none the less.

33-1/2 stars -- Slightly above-average  Jan 04, 2010
I never really was a big fan of Flo Rida, mainly because I think all his singles are extremely overrated. Still, I decided to check out his latest album, R.O.O.T.S.

While the production on the album is pretty much on point for the most part, most of the songs don't really stand out all that much. The only song that comes close is the necessary sexual-song-featuring-Ne-Yo, "Be on You". "Finally Here" doesn't even have him rapping on beat, and speaking of that, "Never" has sudden shift changes from rapping to talking. And the obligatory end-of-album remembrance track "Rewind" doesn't help or hurt the album.

There's also Flo's choice of samples on already questionable songs, like that Tandy voice on "Touch Me", Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me `Round" on "Right Round", and Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" on "Sugar" (and the latter changes the whole thing around, as the original words were meant to describe the beat while Flo's interpolation makes no sense at all). Things are also less than impressive when it comes to talking about strippers, like on "Gotta Get It" and the aforementioned "Right Round".

R.O.O.T.S. isn't a terrible album, but it would really only sound good in the club. B.I.F.

5Love this CD!!!  Sep 16, 2009
I am a middle aged white female who is just starting to appreciate rap/hip hop music. I bought this CD because I kept hearing Be On You on the radio and couldn't get the song out of my head. What a wonderful surprise to find that I love the entire CD! I can not get through a day without listening to it.

5Wearing it out!!! Hitting Repeat!  Sep 07, 2009
REWIND I could listen to all day.....ROOTS, Right Round, Never, Sugar, Jump, a great mix of fast, slow, rap, mixes with other artists, beautiful voice, strong but melodic.......LOVE IT!

This is awesome although there are 2 versions R.O.O.T.S and R.O.O.T.S routes of overcoming the struggle its like impossible to tell difference amazon marks them the track gotta get it dancer on the Routes of overcoming the struggle has inappropriate content at the end and swearing and touch me is annoying and disgusting
