My three cents Jan 16, 2010 You can actually hear the vocals on Trespass! The crisp clarity of Supper's Ready is chilling! There will always be haters; I have original pressings, CD issues, and now this, and I don't care what the engineers originally produced, I Like the dynamics on this set.
Bravo!
Perfect material, technical issues. Jan 09, 2010 Material included on these discs is perfect.
But I had to warn you: this is american version, with region 1 on DVDs and no SACD included - so you won't get loseless surround audio from it and if you're from Europe, you've got to f*** with regions.

Genesis at its peak of creativity Dec 15, 2009 How much Genesis does one really need? But, I suppose if you are going to buy one of the mammoth box sets Rhino is offering, this is it, because it represents the Peter Gabriel years. I suppose there are those tone-deaf persons who will insist on the Phil Collins years, but anyone with an ear for music will realize that Genesis was at its best with Peter Gabriel, even if he sawed himself off a limb from time to time. The combination of infectious rhythms, strident lyricism, and crazy theatrics presaged that of jam bands like Phish. Gabriel always seemed to be pushing the envelope, and continued to do so when he went solo, adding in new layers of funk, African and Asian rhythms as well as starting his own music label to promote musicians the big labels wouldn't touch at the time, like Youssou N'Dour.
I guess it goes without saying that Gabriel is one of my favorite musicians, and if I had the cash I would probably plunk down the $125 for this box set. What makes it special is that it includes the music, the videos and the concert footage of the band during its musical and artistic peak before Phil Collins took over and turned it into an insufferable pop band.

Incredible ! Dec 12, 2009 Excellent sound. A must for every Genesis fan. The music in 5.1 channels gives you an experience never found before. Best albums with Peter Gabriel as never heard before.

Why do my ears hurt so much...... Nov 24, 2009 Frankly, I had no idea what excessive EQ, compression and the so-called 'loudness war, were all about. Thanks (sic) to this set, now I do. Nick Davis, with the approval of the band which is all the more perplexing, has managed to destroy the feel, dynamics and atmosphere of some of the greatest music ever made. While listening to Nursery Cryme, what was a weird tingle, had, by the time Hogweed began, become noticeable discomfort - by the time the album was complete I knew I had to get rid of this set. For those who have given this set glowing reviews I must suggest, without a hint of irony, that you need your ears testing - these things sound like a symphony of flies in a yoghurt pot - have you all become so dulled to dynamics that these really sound like proper music to you - my flabber is ghasted! For those of you considering this as a purchase, you may feel it is worth it for the video material, which, unless you have been part of the bootleg/trading circuit, must seem like the motherlode to you - quite understandably so. But, for the sake of your ears, either stick with your original vinyl or, a decent pre-1990 CD issue - they will trounce the Pinky and Perky version of the music to be found here. Much like another reviewer - 5 stars for the music, 1 star for the 'work' of Nick Davis.
