Plastic hinge broke off after 3 years of light use Mar 08, 2010 I used these during my business trips and initially was very happy with them and their performance (noise cancelling only, since I don't use these to listen to music at all). But cannot say the same after 3 years (of periodic/light usage), since the plastic at the point where the earcups link up, has completely broken away, on one of the sides, rendering the whole unit useless.
The plastic used in these $300 headphones, seems to be very cheap/non-pliable stuff and I have no idea why it did not break off sooner. Either way, it is now out of warranty and I would like to know if this problem is more pervasive, before buying Bose again.
Serious structural issues combined with terrible customer support Mar 04, 2010 Great sound and great comfort. That's where the good qualities stop. The headset on this product is of extremely poor design and materials. My headset fell apart after being used sparingly over the course of 1.5 years. The kicker is that for such an expensive product, the company essentially could care less to have you back as a returning customer. They were unresponsive to my requests for parts support - they only wanted me to upgrade to a new pair. DO NOT BUY ANY BOSE PRODUCTS. You would do better to flush your hard earned money down the toilet. Did I mention that you should NOT BUY ANY BOSE PRODUCTS?
disentergrated in my hand.Big Quality problems or choose cheap plastic so you will upgrade every few years...What a joke Feb 16, 2010 Went to Bose store in Burlington Mass for a new cable cause it was intermitent. Problem no 1. Brought it home and where it piviots, completed disintergrated in my hands. I was doing nothing but holding it in my hands and put it on the table. Problem 2. What a joke! Anyway, I did buy the QC15. Trapped so I did the upgrade for $150.00. I would try some other noise cancelling phones first before going to Bose. The Bose phones sound are very good, comfort is a 9 out of 10, but quality is a complete joke. $300 for cheap plastic. The cabling should be alot sturdier then what is given. I have a Grado SR-60 and Shennheiser 595HD and they are much more durable. I've had the grado for 5 years and it is still new looking. I used them almost every day for couple of years and it is still in perfect condition. I'm sure Bose knows about the problem and want you to do the $150.00 upgrade.
A pretty decent set of headphones Feb 07, 2010 I've had QC2s for about 3 years now, and overall, I have to say that I am pretty satisfied with them. The noise cancellation is EXCELLENT, and they are by far the most comfortable pair of headphones you could ever wear. However, they do have quite a few faults. While I have never been extremely dissatisfied by this, the quality of the bass is not as high as you would expect for $400- I get better bass out of my $80 wear around headphones. Which brings me to the next problem- with a price-tag like this, you shouldn't need a pair of wear around headphones. The fact is, you really can't wear these headphones outside of the house, the car or the plane. These are not the headphone you take to go for a run, or walk your dog, or even walk across the street in. And theres a few reasons for that. By far the most annoying is that whenever you make a sudden movement, or touch the side of the headphones, the sound stops. Which means if you're ever wearing these lying down, you had better keep your head perfectly straight, or they're not gonna work. Besides not being able to wear them around because of that odd flaw, they also do not sit securely on your head. Yes, they are very comfortable, but odds are, you will find yourself readjusting these a lot. And lastly, like has been said before, these things are FRAGILE. The headband on my last pair (I'm on my third) snapped from literally just sitting in the overhead compartment of the plane. Inside the hard case. Inside of a padded backpack. That really just shouldn't happen. But, as you can see, I did give them 4 stars, and after my first two pairs broke, I went back and got a third pair. Why? Simply because for travel, or for trying not to disturb the family while sitting on the couch watching TV, there is simply nothing better. The sound quality besides the bass is absolutely stunning, and they really are the most comfortable thing in the world. (I can honestly say Ive put them on just for the sake of enjoying wearing them - not to cancel out sound or listen to music. Its like a blanket for your head.) In short I would reccomend these to anyone except for those who refuse to buy an additional pair of walk around headphones, or people who are expecting bass like that of Monster's 'Beats by Dre' headphones.

Cracks, and no fixes Jan 17, 2010 I've owned my QC2's for almost 4 years. Sound quality is superb, and now I'm addicted to them for airline travel. However, one has to only google QC2 Repairs (I've attached one link, of many, below) to find their critical flaw - the plastic above the earpieces holding the adjusters in their sleeves cracks/crumbles, so the earpiece just dangles there, rendering them useless. And there is no fix. This happened to mine about the 3 yr point, even keeping them in their case whenever not in use. Under warranty they replace them, outside warranty they offer to sell you QC3's or 15's. I did get the QC15's and they look like the same (flawed) design. Unless they've reinforced the plastic, this will continue to be Bose' headphones Achilles heel. These otherwise outstanding headphones just aren't worth the price if they can't stay on your head. Caveat emptor.
