Does not work Nov 21, 2009 I bought this ipod to replace my fourth generation 20 gig that was damaged on a fishing trip. It worked great for about 4 months, then it started randomly skipping over certain songs after only a few seconds of play. A couple of months later, it started freezing itunes every time I tried to sync it, so I was unable to put any new music or podcasts on it. I tried to restore it, however, that didn't work either, leaving me with an ipod with no content on it, that would not sync. Now, when I plug the ipod into my MacBook, itunes does not recognize it. I have tried sending it in to Apple 3 times, and each time they mail it back to me, saying that absolutely nothing is wrong with it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, I have tried syncing it to friend's itunes on other computers, nothing works. Ipods have suffered a major dip in quality, as has Apple customer service.
Awesome! Nov 19, 2009 I love my Ipod! Would have wanted it to be a little cheaper. But oh well.
iPod Issues Nov 18, 2009 This purchase was a replacement of one exactly like it a month earlier that had begun just turning itself off in the middle of listening to a song. AMAZON was GREAT about allowing us to return the first, and we were so excited to so quickly receive this replacement. But this item had the same issues which started occurring nearly as soon as we received it. Eventually we returned it to our local Apple store and because one of the techs there thought it was an internal hardware problem, they allowed us to exchange it with a brand new one. It's only been a few days with the third one, now, and our fingers are crossed that it will continue to work OK.

Skipping and reseting in mid song FREQUENTLY Nov 15, 2009 I've had this POC for about 8 months and have had trouble since it was new. First it was just cutting off songs and skipping to the next, but if you back it up it will play the cut off song fine the second try. Now it wants to constantly reset it self in mid play. This week it has gotten so bad it won't play for more than 10 or so songs before the screen goes to some weird color apple logo and resets. Has gotten to the point that it almost unusable.
Reseting and re-syncing seems to help for a day or 2 but then it starts the problem all over again making it unusable until I can re-sync at home. I now carry my 3 yr old 30 gb as a back up as I play music all day at work. My 30gb is trouble free.
Apple discussions is full of complaints about this problem and apple response to the issue is NO PROBLEM'S HERE FOLKS. Many have sent their 120's back to apple and gotten it back with the response from apple that it is working fine and the problem persists. And forget the 5 R solution as it is a waste of time but apple's insistance is this will fix anything.
Like the ill-fated 160GB this model should be dropped from the market place as it is truly a peice of junk and a waste of your hard earned money. As for apple? Shame on them for ignoring this HARDWARE PROBLEM!!!!
I fell in love with I Pod's when I bought my 30GB and it totaly changed how I listen to music and when my 30 was at max I was thrilled to get the 120GB. However it has been a sad and frustrating experience since day one.
One last note-I notice that the sound quality of the 120 does not seem to be as good as the older I Pod's. Buyer beware and good luck if you are foolish enough to by this lame model I Pod.

Random restarts and shut downs Nov 07, 2009 I owned 2 other ipods before i bought my new ipod 120. The first thing the ipod did when i got it was freeze then shut down and since then it has gotten worse to where it will shut down every 5 mins. I will not recommend an ipod 120. waste of money on a malfunction device.
